It is standard in the printing industry to use a Pantone© colour reference when choosing your ink colour.
If you choose one of the standard Pantone© colours there should not generally be a problem. However, when you print on different finishes, such as letterheads (bond), business cards (board), leaflets (gloss) there can be a slight variation in the printing ink colour. This is due mainly to two things:
1) The materials used may all have a different absorbancy and
2) all have slightly different shades.
However, taking this into consideration, using Pantone© spot colours is still the most realiable way of creating consistent colour throughout your business stationery.
Make sure the ink colours you choose are from a Pantone© swatch, and not taken from your computer moniter. A monitor displays colour in RGB (Red, Green & Blue) format and if not calibrated to the Pantone© system, the colours will not be accurate.
